REALationship Goals

"And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek him."
Hebrews 11:6

So, the other day I posted a picture on instagram that said, "Imagine a man so focused on God that the only reason he looked up to see you is because he heard God say "That's Her."" I then proceeded to post a picture on twitter that said, "A woman's heart should be so hidden in God that a man has to seek Him just to find her." I love these quotes because they show you that the only way to truly find happiness is to seek God and he will reward you with it. That's where Hebrews 11:6 comes into play in this post. There are a few things I want to touch on within this blog post:

1.) I named this post REALationship Goals because I don't think people my age truly understand what relationship goals actually should be. I see tweets of two people eating pizza together, smoking weed together, watching movies, or even just simply an old couple having dinner together and it's always captioned "relationship goals". I understand that it's a goal in life to find someone that makes you happy and will do the things you love to do with you, however that shouldn't necessarily be a relationship goal. A relationship goal should be a man and a woman who pray to God about everything. A relationship goal should be when a man and woman will have a bible study together before bed, and wake up and start there mornings off together with another bible study. A relationship goal should be when a man and a woman take off to go on a vacation together and their "vacation" is going on a mission trip to work hard and serve the Lord. Relationship goals should be a man and a woman striving to grow closer to God and to serve him together.

2.) I'm the kind of person who loves to help people. I will literally stay up all night talking to a person of any age  just to reassure them of God's love and I will spend the whole night finding bible verses and Christian song lyrics that relate to a persons problems in hopes of helping them to reach an understanding. Lately I've had a couple of people text me about their relationship problems. I've noticed the same thing about each relationship, they're to focused on what's wrong with the other person and not even concerned about themselves. Not once has anyone texted me saying "I have prayed about this relationship and it's just not working out and I don't know what I can do to make it better." They always put the blame on the other person. The way I see it, if you don't center your relationship around God then why would you even suspect that it would work out? If it doesn't glorify God then it's pointless. Everything on Earth is temporary and that includes your relationships, so if it doesn't benefit God then you're honestly just wasting time. Your life on Earth is supposed to be spent doing anything you can to glorify God. Just remember, couples who pray together, stay together.

3.) This point is for all of my fellow single people. I know that we all want to find that one person who makes our hearts full of joy and makes us feel alive. This is what I have to tell you; you're single right now for a reason. It's God's plan for you to be single right this very second. We have a job. Our job is to focus on ourselves. We spend too much time searching for our future bride/groom, we want to jump into relationships and just wing it, but that's not going to help you. What you should be doing is focusing on your relationship with God. If we can't successfully maintain the most important relationship in our lives then why do we think we can maintain a lesser one? We should be craving God's attention, not some boy/girl's. We should spend our time so focused on learning about and living for our Lord that we don't really notice every time a "cute boy" or "hot girl" walks by us. I know we're all guilty of this. Think about it though, would you be more attracted to an individual that is average or that parties all the time OR would you be more attracted to an individual that is radiating love for our savior? I personally would rather spend my time with a Godly boy than a worldy one. There's nothing more attractive to me than someone who lives their life to please God. I want someone who will take my hand and walk with me closer to God. That's the thing though, we can't expect anyone to be anything that we aren't willing to be. So my task for you is to completely focus on your walk with Christ and when he knows you're ready he is going to send you the man/woman of your dreams. If you're fully focused on God and your future spouse is focused on God then when yall finally are introduced to each other it will be so much easier to center your relationship around God and please him. Then you have a better chance of a healthy long lasting relationship that puts a smile on Gods face. You need to be completely in love with God before you can fall completely in love with anyone else.

I hope this post helped you out no matter what your current relationship status is. Just make sure that your relationship can be considered REALationship Goals. Every relationship has its ups and downs but I hope this will help you all to fix the downs so you can have more ups. Most importantly, remember that the most important relationship in your life is between you and God. If that relationship isn't going well, none of your relationships will.

XOXO,
Kirby Madyson
